tools with a mission
TWAM are a faith based charity that Rotary clubs have worked with for many years. They take unwanted but usable tools, refurbishes them, sort them into trade tool kits and send them to the developing world for livelihood creation.
In doing so, they also support UK communities through volunteering opportunities and contribute significantly to environmental sustainability by reducing waste and carbon emissions in the UK.
Through their 'local to global' model, Tools with a Mission(TWAM) prevent nearly 400 tonnes of tools from being wasted in UK landfills annually and engage local communities, offering volunteering opportunities that nurture skills and foster social connections. The impact of their work resonates with Rotarys aim. As they supply refurbished tools to over 500 organisations in Sub-Saharan Africa. These tools equip individuals with the ability to completely transform their lives and communities.
By refurbishing and recycling, over 1,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually can be saved, demonstrating their commitment to environmental sustainability. The toolkits serve as catalysts for change, from supporting families and education to strengthening communities. Their local efforts have a global impact, helping to create a world where everyone has the chance to thrive.
